🏷 How to make EDITABLE/ COLOR CHANGING stickers in Goodnotes

I’ve been seeing these new “magic” stickers on Etsy and was curious to know how they’re made!

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to make GoodNotes stickers that are super easy to make and will save you lots of time from sorting regular PNG stickers! You can store these directly in to your GoodNotes elements and use them seamlessly with your planning and note-taking!

A super fun part is that you can change them into any color you want, so you only really need one set of functional stickers!

What are these editable GoodNotes stickers?

I wanted to do a tutorial about these news kind of stickers that I found. They’re inspired by some of these shops that are making editable stickers on GoodNotes right now and I find it a very interesting concept because you pretty much make the stickers in Goodnotes and it makes it so much easier to use and it’s being convenient because you can change the colors whenever. You’ll only really need one set of stickers for all your planning.

I wanted to experiment some of these by myself and make Goodnotes stickers using fonts.

These fonts I want to are called dingbat fonts. They are usually used for crafting and they come in all sorts of different sizes and symbols.

Where to find dingbat fonts

I usually go to Dafont.com because they are free.

Here are a few other places I look for when looking for unique fonts:

CreativeFabrica
- You can actually sign up for one of their subscription and you can download unlimited types of fonts. There are tons of different ones so it really depends what you want to create so if you choose a pattern ones you can actually make washes and change colors based on your theme and there’s tons of other ones that you can use as icons that you can make for yourself and

Creative Market

Creative Market and CreativeFabrica are great options because they have commercial license included so if you actually want to sell them or something in the future it’s ready for you to use whereas with Dafont, you have to really look through to see what kind of rights you have to the fonts.

How to use new fonts in Goodnotes

*TIP – Sometimes Goodnotes doesn’t register the new font, so restart your app by exiting the app and opening it again.

Once, you’ve done that you can test out the new fonts with the letters. Each letter represents a different shape.

The resolution is pretty good on these fonts and you can tell by zooming into the text/sticker to see. Once you make them as stickers, you just create an element for each letter and add it to your Element section in Goodnotes and now you can reuse it again and again.

Now the elements are recognized as text and you can also change colors to whatever would fit your current template.

If you want to create your own editable washi, you can download some solid block patterns. Just type a string of words as dingbats and you can change the color to your liking and then save it as an element to use later. It’s very useful for functional planning and it’s super simple to use and it saves a lot of time instead of cropping stickers.

Just a disclaimer these dingbat stickers only work if you have the same font installed on your ipad so if you don’t have them installed it will just show up as the letters associated with that dingbat
