In this blog, I’ll be giving you some awesome tips for tidying up a messy room fast. You see, things tend to get pretty chaotic in our house, and I barely have time to tidy up most days. And By the way, if you’re new here, I’m a full-time working mom, and I’ve been learning how to tidy up and get organized efficiently so that things don’t pile up and overwhelm me. I’ve noticed that a messy environment takes a toll on my mental health, so I want to share my plan for keeping the house fresh and my mind clear.
So let’s get back to the messy room.
Tackling a really messy room can be intimidating, especially if it’s been neglected for a while. So today, while I’m cleaning up my kids’ room I’ll share some tips on how to clean up a messy room quickly without getting overwhelmed.
What's covered in this post
Get rid of the junk first
Before you do the deep cleaning, grab all the stuff that doesn’t belong there and stash it somewhere else for now. I usually grab a basket so I can dump everything into it so I can sort it out later.
Sort everything in piles
When I finally get time to go through the basket of junk, I’ll divide everything in to a keep pile, a throw away pile and a donate pile. It’s also easier to sort everything when you have it all in one place.
Get some organizing tools
Grab boxes, baskets, shelves, whatever you can find, to help you organize stuff neatly. Figure out what you’re missing in your space. I noticed that we don’t have enough shelving or drawers, so everything ends up on the floor. And that also makes vacuuming much harder
Quick wipe down
Once you get all the clutter out, give surfaces a quick wipe with an all-purpose cleaner and a cloth. It’s easier with all the stuff out of the way and it helps the room feel a little more refreshed
Start with the bed
If you’re stuck with what to start on first, Make your bed first. Once you get an easy task done, it can help build momentum for other things.
Work from top to bottom
When you’re dusting and cleaning stuff around the room, it’s better to Dust and clean from the ceiling down to the floor. That way, you won’t mess up already-cleaned spots. And if dust falls on the floor, you’ll vacuum it all up after.
Reward yourself with breaks
I know you want to clean the room fast, but sometimes trying to do it all in one go feels overwhelming. So, Divide your cleaning tasks into short bursts and take quick breaks in between. This way, you have a short break to look forward to and it can surprise you how much you can do for 15 mins!
My long-term plan to keep my room decluttered is to find a place for each item in the room. If there’s storage missing for this item, it either needs a place for it or it doesn’t belong in the room.
So that’s all the tips I have for you today. I hope you enjoyed my tips and that my cleaning gave you some motivation.
